Selling drinks at hawker stalls can make more money than white collar professionals!

I've got this story from my friend who claims that selling teh ais, kopi etc at hawker stall can make more money than a degree holder white collar professional in Malaysia. Here is the story.

I always workout at this particular gym in PJ. I normally would go during lunch time (near to my office) and since it's not much ppl during that time I can easily concentrate my workout (no distractions of amoi, hot chiq, etc.)

I met this young dude, he also always workout in the noon. Quite well built, tall, muscular, too bad slightly face problem but it's ok because chicks dig the body. We had some small chat in the locker room before. This guy he drives a BMW 6 series. How do I know? Because during weekdays (working days) the fugging carpark is so full and I can hardly find a carpark so I have no choice to park at the vallet right in front of the mall. I saw this guy few times entering the carpark same time with me, so I know that car belongs to him.
Nevertheless, after workout today, I went to my favourite foodcourt for lunch. I ordered my fav Nescafe Ais and then makaning my food. Suddenly that young dude appear... he put down the Nescafe Ais at the same time saying "here's your drink". So I was surprised and ask him how come he's here. He said why not this is a public food court ma. I joked with him saying Oh i thought you're the drink seller.. how come u deliver my drink wan? He said yes he IS the drink seller.

Long story cut short - He owns the kedai jual air..

According to him, he dont have high qualification so he since young after finish PMR come out jual kuih at pasar, then slowly jual those herbal tea (his mum love to make tea & stuff) and after doing for few years he managed to start a stall selling water, then he keep opening up new stalls, hiring bangla & indon to man the stalls. The profit margin is very big. Then I asked him la which profit margin is the smallest? (thinking that i should avoid those high margin drinks next time) and he replied "plain water loh" doh.gif then I said harr got ppl actually order plain water meh? he said got.. he charge 20 cent for it =.=

The cost for milo ais is like less than 50 cent only, hot water + cheapo cap ayam kambing milo bought in bulk + condensed milk + ice sold at rm1.80 that's like rm1.30 profit per cuppa liao. Then I doubt lo .. really so good business meh? i normally go makan i hardly order drinks de, except after gym la i sure order drink coz thirsty. He said he train his people some 'sales strategy'. As long the table no drinks, u must keep bug the customer few times. If the stall got 5 worker, all 5 worker must go approach the customer and ask. even if customer reject person A, person B will go ask, then customer reject, person C will go ask, and so on. High chances of sealing the deal if u keep bug them.

After listening to him, I also want start a drink business liao. The cost is so low, and profit margin is high. He is aiming to open a kopitiam but nowadays in PJ not much corner lot for sale dy... if can open, lagi untung can monopoly the drink business. But I really salute him, can buy BMW 6 series (though recon) and no work stress and no nit 9-5 can do anything at anytime he wants... but he really keng la.. he said he got more than 15 such stalls in klang valley woh.. and he hires his relatives to jaga most of it. i very like him liao... so successful yet so humble. he belanja-ed me the nescafe ais "Thumbs up"
